Featured Artist: Discolored Perception
Formed in isolation in the Rocky Mountains near Aspen, Colorado by old school renegade snowboarders, Discolored Perception has created its own scene around the high-energy sport of snowboarding and skateboarding. Defiantly independent of any corporate cloned meaningless throwaway stale music machine, Discolored Perception has independently released 3 self-produced EP’s and one full-length record. Snowmass Village (pop. 1822) and elevation (9100 ft.) provides the altitude and the attitude to the band's style and sound. The band's contagious blend of old school Punk and Psycho Billy create a fanatical hysteria wherever they play. The group has been featured in skateboard and snowboard videos on Fox Sports and Hawaii’s Ballistic TV. The 2004 EP "Take You Out" received excellent airplay during the events of the 2004 Winter X games festival and the single "Miss Hollywood" was picked up in rotation by local radio station KSPN. Lead by International punk rocker, Memphis Linzy, the group's singer and guitarist, the Marshalls are on 10 and the energy is electrifying. Rock and Roll is alive again! Former World Champion Snowboarder Chris Karol holds down the low end with an Ampeg 8 x 10 to rattle the teeth and drummer Ben Robin brings the backbeat.
The band capped off a successful 2004 with a national tour concluded by a rocking performance at CBGB's New York City. They returned to New York in January 2005 for a performance for Rock and Roll Scene at Piano's in the East Village featuring some of New York’s top talent. Currently playing all over the state of Colorado, the band headlined the main stage at the Blues & Brews Chili Festival at Snowmass Ski area in June 2005. Watch out for Discolored Perception and let rock and roll save your soul!
